Facebook sues owners of over 100,000 Instagram users

19 November, Facebook said it filed a lawsuit against Turkish developer Ensar Sahinturk for using automated software to extract profiles. More than 100,00 Instagram users' photos and videos that are publicly displayed on their own website. Where the owner of the data is not authorized and is against the rules of Instagram.

Anyone accessing the Sahinturk website will be able to enter an Instagram username to view their personal profile information, as well as photos, videos, stories, hashtags and locations about that user.

Such data extraction is an unauthorized violation of the privacy and control of the platform, so Facebook has to take legal action against developers outside of these crimes. This past August, Facebook sued developers for selling fake Instagram likes and has previously prosecuted spam, fake comments and fake followers on Instagram.
